Jason Katzenback of PortalFeeder fame just told me about a new piece of software that the development team have just fnished working on. It has the name of AdsenseFinder which is maybe a tad misleading given what it actually does. When he started telling me I thought it was just something to help find a good layout for my Adsense blocks in my blogs and websites. Useful enough but I already have stuff for that job.

Anyway, I was wrong. He and the Portalfeeder development team have put together a really neat tool for Adwords users and this is not just going to be a bonus for PortalFeeder users but is a free software for anyone who wants it! So we have Orwell, CommentKahuna (now in version 2.0) and today AdsenseFinder to help increase the profitability of PPC campaigns.

Today Friday, the day after PortalFeeder 2.0 relaunched and the forum is full of new names introducing themselves. We have some big names getting involved and some more who are going to become so. It is kinda fun.

Today has been more fun that 16 months ago for Portal Feeder’s original launch when it seemed that nothing was working right - complex software finding new ways to annoy people! Today everything is working well, apart from the odd glitch with usernames or passwords on the forum. Of course, I and hundreds of others are already relaxed and happy to welcome the new team members, 16 months ago we were ALL new. Now we can point our recent colleagues in the right direction for training videos, discuss the finer points of social bookmarking tools and the links for discounts on the best of them. Before anyone mentions it, whilst we users at Portalfeeder review and share information we do not yet have a social bookmarking tool, other than the very basic thing I made many months ago and shared with the PF users.

We have seen some reviews of PortalFeeder and some ‘reviews’. As you can gather, some hit the mark better than others - the best of the bunch have been wriotten by people who already have used the product. Ihave read a couple that were obviously and unashamedly written by people who had never even seen PortalFeeder.

I was talking with a potential PortalFeeder 2.0 user today and I was going on about how useful I had found the system and services as they have grown over the past year or so.

Then he asked me a question that shut me up. (Those who know me know that once in full flow I am not easily stopped)

This is what he asked me:
Andrew, What is PortalFeeder?

Yup, I was stumped.
I could talk about the features:
the PortalFeeder core software, the blogging system that we use to promote web sites, the one way linking system, the article sharing system, the huge content database, the great training, the incredible PortalFeeder forum, yadda…yadda…yadda.

But what IS PortalFeeder?

I sat down and did some thinking.
Calling it a business system did not seem right becasue it enables businesses but it is not a system itself, each Portalfeeder member makes their own business.

PortalFeeder is not software. Well, it is… partly, after all I listed some of the highlights above!

Is Portal Feeder a training package? Hmm… No! But the training is first rate; provided by committed and knowledgable people with ‘guests’ from the world of Internet Marketing that others pay a small fortune to learn from. But no, PortalFeeder is much more than training.

I was, by now about stumped. Then I remembered a saying by a man called Don Dwyer, a Texan, sadly deceased over ten years ago, the man who gave me the opportunity to run my own business; my first ‘proper’ business with employees and equipment and vans and stuff.

He once told me that a business is no more or less than a machine to make money and that the owner of a business is really a machine minder.

That was it! I now know what PortalFeeder is!

PortalFeeder is a production line to build businesses!

Each portal or network of sites is a business. Each element of PortalFeeder is a stage on the production line from initial design through manufacture to marketing and all the elements are available to PortalFeeder members.

So, the next person to ask the question Portal Feeder“>’What is PortalFeeder?’ will get an answer PDQ.
